Moving Dreams

Responsibilities = Nightmares

We moved 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, in the middle of the night, I suddenly remembered there were still things we left at the old house. I had already turned in the keys to the owner, so I started to panic. I wondered if there was a way to secretly enter the house and remove the rest of our things to avoid the owner charging us extra rent for not being out by the 31st.

I felt crushed. Why had I thought that the move was over?

Blink. Blink.

Because it was.

It was just dream.

Haha! Why is it that our troll brains insist on torturing us with nightmares about big responsibilities? As recently as last year, I dreamed I wasn’t going to graduate from Berklee because I had forgotten to attend a class during a whole semester. Variations of this dream happen once in a while involving other important things in my life.

I also resent when Troll Brain makes me dream of a beautiful, best-case scenario regarding something I’m worried about. After things work out perfectly, I wake up feeling relieved and happy… only to realize I’ve been punked.

Do you guys dream about stuff like this, too?

Haha!

Hugs,
Malu

I have had dreams exactly like that before, a number of times actually. I remember there’s some super in-depth science explanations/theories about how/why they happen, but I don’t really remember them. Such complex stuff!! Nonetheless it’s an incredibly strange occurrence.

    Have a fantastic week!!

Oooh, the dreams about people we care about getting hurt are always horrible 🙁 I’ve had those, too, though thankfully not nearly as often as the school ones.

I am glad to see your new blog! I very much waited for him! I in a dream do such things which in reality would never make. Once in a dream I have shouted at the teacher and after awakening several seconds stayed in panic haven’t understood yet that it was only the dream. And still I had an operation recently and I was entered into a condition of an anesthesia and after awakening I sang your songs (without getting to one of notes hahaha) and in a break between songs I have told the father who sat next all this time near me ”Dad I in very helpless state now and if someone comes to kill me I won’t be able to be protected! Do you have a sword to protect me?”. Hahahaha
After I have begun to play a skyrim to me swords have begun to dream!
P.S. Scientists still can’t precisely explain what is a dream.
I hope you have happy week! Many thanks for blog and much love from Uzbekistan!

    Hi Judy! 😀

I’ve had that kind of dreams too. It’s horrible hehe

Talking about dreams, last nigjt that I went to sleep, I dreamed, that I was walking around in the city where I live, feeling lost. Then, there was three guys that were following me, and I noticed that they were behind me and I was really scared!!!! They didn’t look like good people so I started to run! And they were running too! And I said oh crap!! I’m dead. Then tjey catched me and hit me, then I just remember we were on a bridge and they threw me from the bridge, and I woke up today really scared hahahaha, but then I realised it was a dream

One year ago I dreamed that you were my mom!! It was a great dream hehe. I have very weird dreams

Have a great day Malukah! I less than three you

Oh…..you can put replies on this thing….k, me and technology! Yeah, I’ve had dreams similar to what you’ve mentioned, the worst part is often I wake up and am convinced that the dream is in fact reality, for example not too long ago I had to write a quiz, I got it done well in advance it is was stored, clearly labelled, on my desk top, a few nights before this quiz was needed I had a dream in which I realised I hadn’t written said quiz and had to panic madly to get it done in time. Upon waking up I went to my PC and immediately started writing a quiz, I got an hour or so in and realised I should probably save it, at which point my PC threw the “A file of this name already exists” message at me…….I spent about 10 minutes trying to work out how a file of that name could already exist, and had to open it and go through the entire thing to convince myself I’d done it.
But my least favourite dreams usually occur just in that awkward time when you’re just drifting off to sleep, occasionally just at that moment I dream that I’m falling, no idea where from or anything, all I know is I’m falling, and I get the physical sensation of falling too….fast, it only last a second or so before I’m fully awake again left confused (not so much anymore, I’m kinda used to it) and wondering what just happened, I mean I physically feel the drop in my stomach, yet when I wake up I’m still laid in my bed and haven’t dropped at all. I’m not really sure what this is, weather it’s a dream or what, but it’s weird that’s for sure….anyone else experienced similar? Well anyways all I can say is the human mind really is a complex, tricksy thing!

Hoooooly. That must have been such an insanely realistic dream! And I’m impressed you would have named the files the same! I am such a mess with filename. hahahaha! 😀 I’ve definitely experienced dreams where I wake up thinking, “I need to go do this NOW”, but I somehow always manage to think about it long enough to realize it was a dream… but, it’s tough sometimes. It can leave a little seed of doubt and there are times you actually have to get up and see reality for yourself before being able to go back to sleep. And yes! Those falling dreams are the worst. I just had that happen 2 nights ago. It sucks because it’s at the moment you are most relaxed… and then NOOOOO WAKE UPPPPP YOU ARE FAAALLLLIIIIIIING. hahaha! I’ve always wondered why that happens, but I’ve never tried to find an answer. Thanks for reading and for commenting, FlyingPigGames! Welcome to the blog! 😀

Right….I’m sure I already wrote this reply….but it’s not showing up, so either I am confused, I just had a weird dream, something wonky is going on or I did it wrong……all of the above (unintentional reference there!)are possible…. and I apologies if 2 replies now exist, but lets try this again.
Yeah, the dream was reasonably realistic, but I think it’s more the fact that I have an uncanny ability to get something in my head and convince myself of it, and the panic when I woke up helped. I mean I don’t really remember the details of the dream as such, but more the feeling of not having the quiz done, and those seeds of doubt were enough to start me panicking, knowing I had little time to d the whole thing, this led to me rushing into beginning writing the quiz without 1st thinking to double check if I’d done it already. And the more minutes that passed the easier it was to convince myself, I mean I wouldn’t be this worried if I’d already done it…riiiiiiiiiiiiight? And as for the filename, well most of my files and filenames are a mess, however since there’s 3 of us involved with the quizzes we’ve got into a standard naming convention for the files so we all know what the score is.
Yeah, I know what you mean about having to see reality to believe it, but I find my mind in those few moments of awareness is incredibly picky about what it actually takes in, and usually only takes in things it can spin in such a way as to further convince me of what I think is out there, for example the dream that my car had been stolen, well I looked out of my window as soon as I woke up since it’s usually parked just outside my bedroom window, and to my utter panic all I saw was an empty gravel drive, took my brain 5 minutes to remember that when I’d got home the previous evening my house mate had parked in my normal space so I was parked round the corner, out of sight of my window, but of course I was in panic mode, so my brain went “I’m sure I heard someone stealing my car last night…..and the specific spot of the large drive I usually park on is empty…..well clearly my car must’ve been stolen, there are no other possibilities! ….What? That bit of driveway I can’t see? Nope, absolutely not….not even gonna consider it, doesn’t exist”
I think my main issue is my dreams tend not to be particularly detailed, or at least as far as I can remember, in fact pretty much all I remember about them is feelings, concepts and ideas, not really much to go on when trying to sort fact from dream, and I’m stubborn in that if I start to get those seeds of doubt I find they are very hard to shift, I think because I can’t remember the specifics of the dream what I’m left with is “I remember thinking my car was stolen, but don’t remember why I thought that” and my since I don’t actually remember the dream itself I can’t explain why I think my car was stolen if it wasn’t actually, therefore in my mind it must be true.
As for the falling dreams, well I’ve never looked into it previously, but I got curious, I’ve had a google, it seems they are called hypnic jerks, or boogie jerks and are actually pretty common, with around 70% of people claiming to occasionally experience them. The exact cause is unknown, though the common theories seem to centre around the fact that it’s a misinterpretation of data the brain is processing during the transition to sleep. Interestingly apparently the things that have been noticed to affect regularity of these dreams are high levels of caffeine intake, strenuous evening activity, emotional stress and sleep deprivation.

Sorry for the length of this reply, just realised how much I’ve waffled, but I find the tricks our mind can, and regularly does, play on us, our brains are all just plain weird! 😀

No worries, I enjoyed reading the post and replies and seeing that I am in fact not alone in having these kinds of dreams.
Hopefully this one will actually post!

FlyingPig, you only dreamed you had posted….

NOOO, I’m kidding. No, the thing is, I have all comments sent to a moderation queue that I manually check and approve so that I can be sure to respond to them. Otherwise, I’m never really aware of when people post, and I don’t like missing the chance to reply.

Hypnic Jerks… You know… I can see how that works. The transition into sleep… And it’s definitely when I’ve felt it happen. I don’t think it has ever been when I was in full, deep sleep. It’s always just that winding down moment. I’m glad you car was not stole. hahaha! 😀 Oh, man. I can imagine your dismay. May we all dream of rainbows and ponies and ice cream without any boogy jerks from now on.

I STILL have nightmares re turning up late to play the piano at large conventions and embarrassing myself. It happened a few times in real life years ago because eg the loo line-up was too slow and it made me late. In dreams I’m often looking for an outfit to wear, or I walk real slow, and that makes me late. So frustrating lol. A couple of nights ago I dreamt I nearly drowned in a tsunami (even getting to higher ground I couldn’t escape the monster wave) and I’ve had that dream a few times over the years. “They” say it’s diving into your subconscious but it left me feeling quite distressed. “Troll Brain”…good name for it, Malukah! 😀 I had warning dreams years ago though telling me to slow down (I was maxed out contributing music-wise, burn-out) and when I didn’t in real life I got ill. So, scary & kind of premonition dreams can be worth listening to sometimes.

Oh, wow. Premonition dreams. I’m trying to remember if I’ve had something like that happen. I don’t think I’ve experienced it. I’ve definitely noticed that in moments when I’ve over done it, I usually get sick. This has mostly happened when I’ve been scheduled to sing at a big event. The day of, I get a cold. And if I’m lucky and can delay it, the NEXT day after performing, I get something that resembles the plague. haha! Well, not really. But very sick.

And what I have definitely experienced is dreams of trying to hurry as much as possible and I still move so slow and I’m still super late and it’s annoyiiiiiing. hahaha! 😀

        “…resembles the plague” 😁
It must be to do with anticipation, and we get kind of tense and then we let go afterwards and open the door to illness or something – the body relaxes. I read somewhere (and proved it lol) when you go on holidays the first week you crash, the second week you sort of rally and then the third week you enjoy yourself lol. The body always knows, no matter how much the mind says all is ok. All very interesting 😀

A week ago, I dreamd that I haven’t finished my homework before going to my senior high school, I was so terrified because my teachers were very strict, I woke up and found out it was just a bad dream. But it came to me soon that I haven’t finish my dissertation and that is not a dream and the dissertation is much worse than homework. I prefer going back to the nightmares in dream than facing the nightmares in reality. Hahahahaaha 🙂
